Does acrylic scratch easily?
Acrylic is reasonably scratch-resistant, but fine scratches and fingerprints show more on high-gloss and darker shades. Lighter acrylic hides both better. Laminate is more forgiving day to day.
Is laminate a cheap-looking finish?
Not anymore. Modern laminates come in matte, textured and realistic woodgrain finishes that look premium — and they’re tougher than acrylic. The main giveaway is visible edges/joints up close, which good edge-banding minimises.
